Administration
Marcia Bench, MCCC, Founder/Director
Title, Credentials: Master Certified Career Coach (MCCC), Certified Business Coach (CBC), Certified Career Management Practitioner (CMP), Certified Teleleader; J.D. degree in law and B.S. degree in psychology.
Web sites: www.careercoachinstitute.com, www.retirementcoachinstitute.com www.marciabench.com and many more.
What I Do: I am the Founder and Director of Career Coach Institute and its affiliate companies. I conceived the idea of blending career development with coach training in 2000, and shortly after that created CCI. I have developed and continue to oversee its program design, staffing, strategic planning, budgeting, student services, marketing, web services and curriculum development. CCI is my fourth business venture, and I love being an entrepreneur and owner of a growing company. I have also done my stint in “corporate,” both in administrative support and executive roles, and find that my need to respond quickly when an idea strikes and to do it “my way” draws me to business ownership.
What I Like About My Work: My favorite part of my work is seeing (or hearing) the “quantumshift!” moment when someone who is coaching, being coached, or learning, finally has a moment of clarity. What a moment! I also love working virtually, since my spouse is retired and I love to travel, coaching and coach training lets me live my life and work wherever I go (or delegate it so I can take a break every so often!). And I love to innovate: if there’s a better way to do something and no one has thought of it yet, I’ll be the one to try it!
Favorite Career Development/Self Improvement Program: Early on, it was Marsha Sinetar’s work that most inspired me, as well as author Nancy Anderson. Then Richard Lieder and so many current authors that continue to share the message of hope with the weary working world. Each of them opened my mind to the possibility that you can have work that is fun and also financially rewarding. And that’s what I have committed my life to helping myself and others create for themselves.
Favorite Thing I’ve Learned About Myself Through Career Coach Training: I’ve learned so much more about what nurtures and works best for me: I love to have a Practice Development, I love to combine seemingly disparate knowledge or concepts into a cohesive set of principles or a program, I love to create and offer new products that wow people, and I love to have spontaneity and space for change in my life. And I’m thankful that those that work with me understand that and embrace it too (at least most of the time!)
Favorite Career Coaching Book: Well, I have to admit it’s my own, Career Coaching: An Insider’s Guide, and anything by Dr. Wayne Dyer.
Favorite Hobbies/Leisure Activities: I enjoy hiking in the woods of Oregon, being by the ocean, playing tennis – or watching professional matches, cooking and entertaining, boating, and warm weather. I am a cat lover and love to travel by RV, cruise ship or boat to fun new places.

Peggy Knudson, Business Manager/Student Relations Director
Title, Credentials: Business Manager, CPS (Certified Professional Secretary).
What I Do: I assist and support all students through setup, training and post certification. I also provide executive and technical support and to Marcia Bench. My past experience working at Microsoft comes in handy in my job with CCI!
What I Like About My Work: Everyone I work with, from students, members and staff are the most optimistic people one could hope for! It’s a dynamic group of caring people and a joy to be part of.
Favorite Career Development/Self Improvement Program: The Power of Your Subconscious Mind by Dr. Joseph Murphy
Favorite Thing I’ve Learned About Myself Through Career Coach Training: I have not taken the CCI training, but have found that my “authentic vocation” evolves around helping others. My goal in life is to insure those I come in contact with, don’t take life to seriously!
Favorite Career Coaching Book: “Career Coaching an Insiders Guide” (of course!)
Favorite Hobbies/Leisure Activities: Travel via RV and enjoying my 3 cats! I also like to read totally unimportant things – I refer to it as brain candy.

Beth McIntosh
Title, Credentials: Currently Assistant Student Relations Director for Career Coach Institute; Former work includes Real Estate Broker for State of Oregon; Operations Manager for an export firm; Office Manager for various other companies; Certified Member of Community Emergency Response Team for the city I live in (Beaverton, OR)
Web site (if any): None yet, but I’m working on it. I now have a better understanding of what I want it to be.
What I Do: I assist and support Peggy Knudson with student setup, exams and general Career Coach Institute duties. I also provide administrative support to Marcia Bench. Thank goodness I have a TON of experience in organization and office management that I can bring to the table at CCI to further enhance their systems.
What I Like About My Work: It allows me to have a flexible work schedule, which means I can be more efficient and have time for a personal life; something that’s hard to find in corporate America. I’m best when I can be creative and add to or improve the processes of a business. I love that! The people I’ve met at Career Coach Institute have been very generous with their time and their praise and are a wonderful group of people to work with and to just chat with.
Favorite Career Development/Self Improvement Program: I’ve read various self-help books and have personally gone through some career counseling in person. I’ve even studied Buddhism, which helped me with meditation and calming my mind. One of the authors I’ve always loved is Shakti Gawain who wrote Creative Visualization (among others). The book, Life – A Complete Operating Manual by Lauren Tratar is very good. My favorite inspiration has been Eckhart Tolle’s The Power of Now. I even took his webclass with Oprah.
Favorite Thing I’ve Learned About Myself Through Career Coach Training: I haven’t yet taken any career coach training, but I’m certainly intrigued by all the offerings of CCI. I’ve learned various things about myself just by living, reading (and working, of course). I like to help people become organized and efficient so they can truly enjoy their life more and don’t feel so overwhelmed.
Favorite Career Coaching Book: So far I’ve liked What Color is Your Parachute? by Richard N. Bolles, but I hope to read Marcia Bench’s Career Coaching an Insider’s Guide very soon.
Favorite Hobbies/Leisure Activities: Sewing – my sister and I create very silly-looking dinosaurs, plus other creations. I also love arts and crafts, reading – any type of book; and walking – either outside, or if it’s really pouring (Pacific NW, you know) on my treadmill while watching a DVD. I also love to spend time with my granddaughter, Trista, who is the love of my life.

Aricia LaFrance – Admissions Coach
Title, Credentials: MSE – Master’s of Science in Educational Psychology; Bachelor’s Degree – psychology, communications, humanities; Addictions Certification; Certified Career Coach – CCI; Certified Retirement Coach – CCI; Certified Life Coach – Institute for Life Coach Training.
Web site:www.coachlafrance.com
What I Do: Antoine St. Exupery said that “Love is the process of leading people gently back to themselves.” I believe this is a goal of coaching as well. I work with positive, passionate and courageous people, providing workshops with other professionals, group and individual coaching.
What I Like About My Work: My favorite thing about the coaching I do is being a partner in “aha” moments that shift client’s perspectives to a better place – bringing them closer to living their truth. It’s fantastic when people move from a job that drains them to a career that inspires them. This work allows me to do what I love to do and still be available for my favorite people in the world – my husband and kids. That is priceless!
Favorite Career Development/Self Improvement Program: I can’t say enough about Career Coach Institute. I was impressed from the first contact and am more and more impressed with each interaction. The program sets a high but achievable standard for students. Because of this, my certification has opened doors and career opportunities I would never have had if not for CCI.
Favorite Thing I’ve Learned About Myself Through Career Coach Training: I have always enjoyed my work – first as a psychotherapist, then as a mentor and now as a coach. However, the training program at CCI really brought out my passion for helping people determine their goals and reach them. Then CCI gave me the very best tools available to do the work I love.
Favorite Career Coaching Book: In addition to Career Coaching by Marcia Bench which I feel is the best up to date practical guide, I really like Living, Loving and Learning by Leo F. Buscaglia. While not directly about Career Coaching, it provides valuable insights. The book is timeless. I also like the Everything Get a Job Book by Steven Graber – more practical advice. I also love If The Buddha Got Stuck by Charlotte Kasl, PhD.
Favorite Hobbies/Leisure Activities: I love to read, attend workshops and learn new things. My idea of a great vacation is learning a new or different skill! I also enjoy cooking, pottery, drawing, walking, swimming and yoga as well as having time with good friends and my family.
